Liverpool Football Club have reacted to the death of their forward Diogo Jota.
In a tweet via their officially X account on Thursday, the Premier League champions expressed sadness over the Portuguese’s death.
“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota,” Liverpool tweeted.
Jota and his brother Andre died after car accident in the province of Zamora in Spain, yesterday.
The sad news is coming less than two weeks after he got married to Rute Cardoso, in Porto, Portugal.
Jota, 28, had won the English Premier League title with Liverpool last season.
Also, Jurgen Klopp, a former Liverpool head coach, yesterday reacted to the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André.
Klopp said he was heartbroken over the death of both fantastic footballers.
However, in a post on his Instagram account, Klopp said: ” I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of Diogo and his brother André.”
The German gaffer described Jota as a “fantastic player,” adding that he was a “great friend and a loving father.”
Klopp, however, admitted that Jota will be missed so much as he also condoled Jota’s wife Rute and their children.
Klopp coached Jota during his time at Liverpool, having signed the Portuguese from Premier League side Wolves in 2020.
