A 27-year-old resident of Gwalameji area of Bauchi State, Rotji Lazarus has reportedly been knocked down by a hit and run driver along Bauchi-Dass road in Yelwa, 24 hours before a planned trip abroad after securing a job.
According to eyewitness accounts, Lazarus was killed in the night by a moving vehicle without headlights close to POWA shops, Police Barracks, Yelwa.
Our correspondent gathered that the driver absconded after knocking down Lazarus heading towards Rafin Zurfi, along Tafawa Balewa Road.
A graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, the deceased held a postgraduate diploma in Tourism and Leisure Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi in Benue State.
He was said to be in the sale of fruit juice close to where he was knocked down.
The late Rotji Lazarus was the son of the Special Adviser to the Bauchi State Commissioner of works and Transport, Professor Titus Saul Ketkukah.
Meanwhile, the commissioner, Professor Ketkukah has expressed his condolences to his Special Adviser, Mr. Lazarus Buba, over the demise of his son, whom he described as gentle, humble, and very respectful and obedient to his parents, among other virtues.
