George Akume
The Presidency has dismissed widespread reports suggesting the replacement of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
In a statement issued Saturday night, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, affirmed that Akume remains the SGF and that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it. The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news,” the statement read.
The clarification comes amid viral claims on social media alleging a shake-up in the presidency’s top hierarchy.
