The Yoruba Community in Enugu State and the Institute of Chartered Mediation and Conciliation (ICMC), Enugu Branch, on two different occasions, have conferred awards on Enugu East Local Government chairman for excellence in mediation and community development.
ICMC bestowed a Golden Award on the council Chairman, Pastor Beloved-Dan Anike, during its 2025 ICMC Annual Lecture at the council headquarters while the Yoruba community gave Anike Award of Excellence at his office during a visit.
The Chairman of the ICMC branch, Mr S.I.D Iyida, said at the event that the award was in recognition of Anike’s outstanding contributions to mediation advocacy, community development, and selfless service to humanity.
Iyida said that Anike’s use of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, especially at the grassroots, had been transformative.
“A Fellow of ICMC, Anike was instrumental to the recent passage of a pioneering law establishing the Enugu East Land Mediation Center aimed at institutionalising mediation as a tool for resolving land-related conflicts and decongesting the courts.
“Beyond his mediation strides, Anike’s achievements in community development were highlighted as key reasons for this recognition.
“Notable among them are electrification of 13 rural and urban communities through the installation of brand-new 500KVA transformers, and enrollment of over 5,000 residents into the Enugu State Universal Health Coverage scheme,” he said.
