The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Adebukola Olopade yesterday disclosed that, for the first time in the history of the National Sports Festival, the Commission is raising N5 billion from the state for the hosting of the games.

Olopade disclosed this yesterday while inaugurating the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) Sub-committees for 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games, Ogun 2024 at the Media Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
“This is the first time the NSF had raised N5 billion from the State,” Olopade said.
Olopade, who also doubles as the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Chairman said the action is an integral part of their responsibilities towards the delivery of a successful Games.

The DG charged the MOC Sub-committees members to put in their best to ensure a successful National Sports Festival, as failure is not an option.
“Barely a month to the festival and the attendant responsibilities of organizing successful sports events, the MOC decided to constitute relevant Sub-Committees to achieve its mandate.”

“Members of the Sub-Committees have been carefully selected based on their relevant experiences, exposures, competence and commitment towards a successful delivery of assignments.
“I am satisfied with the caliber of people that make up the Sub-Committees and have no doubt that the Games will meet the expectations of Nigerians,” he added.
