The Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos has donated foodstuff and other items to 152 displaced households in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau.
Ms Benedicta Daber, the Coordinator of JDPC presented the items to the beneficiaries on Saturday in Bokkos.
Represented by Mr Boniface Anthony, the Project Manager of the Organisation, Daber said that the gesture was in collaboration with JDPC of the Catholic Diocese of Pankshin in Plateau.
She explained that the gesture was funded by Mission 21, an international organisation.
She also explained that the beneficiaries were victims of the recent attacks in communities across the locality.
“We are all aware of the recent attacks, killings and wanton destruction of properties in some communities of Bokkos LGA.
“Through the support of other organisations, we have been coming to provide succour to the victims, particularly those who lost their homes and means of livelihoods.
“But today, both JDPC Jos and that of Pankshin, with the support of Mission 21, have come to provide food and non-food items to 152 households.
“These items are not in anyway equal to what they have lost during the attacks, but these will cushion the hardship they are currently passing through,” she said.
Mr Mangai Sunday, one of the beneficiaries, thanked JDPC and its partners for the gesture.
Sunday, who said that the items donated would go a long way in providing succuor to them, also promised to share with other affected persons.
Some of the items donated to the beneficiaries include buckets, bags of rice, beans and maize.
Other items were cartons of seasoning, salt, sanitary pads, bathing and washing soaps among others.
