The Zamfara Government has empowered 100 Small and Medium Scale (SMS) business women in 14 Local Government Councils with unconditional grants to support their businesses.
Distributing the grant in Gusau on Wednesday, the Wife of the Zamfara Governor, Hajiyya Huriyya Lawal said the initiative was aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs to strengthen the foundation of the community for development and growth.
” We believe that when you empower a women you empower a whole generation,” she said.
Lawal said 100 determined and enterprising women were empowered with cash grant ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 each for the development of their businesses.
“The support is unconditional because we count the vision, effort and ability towards growth. This is inline with governor’s vision of inclusive development,” she said.
A beneficiary , Naima Idris from Talata Mafara local government, commended the initiative, adding that it would give the women in business the opportunity to contribute their quota to economic growth and development.
She promised that the beneficiaries would invest the intervention wisely to boost their businesses and create more advantage for others to be engaged. (NAN)
