The continued killing of persons by suspected herdsmen in Benue State, has spread to neighboring Nasarawa State as two people are feared killed and one injured, with four motorcycles carted away by the suspected warlords.
The incident which took place in two local government areas of Dooga Ayande in Doma Local Government, as well as Antsa community of Keana Local Government Area of the state, dislodged over 5,000 people in the affected communities and beyond.
The Nasarawa state Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, who was said to be worried about the incidents, has directed the affected local government chairmen to collaborate with security operatives in their areas to restore normalcy.
When contacted, the Doma Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Jonathan Okuba, who confirmed the attack, said he visited the internally displaced persons in Agyaragu town, and promised to visit the injured women who are currently receiving treatment in one of the tertiary facilites in the state.
When our currespondent sought to hear from the chairman, Keana Local Government Council, Hon. Adamu Aboki, where two people were killed, he did not pick calls neither or returned the calls but it was reliably gathered that he was seen going round communities in his local government areas with men of the security operatives to stabilise the tension in the areas.
President of the Tiv sociocultural organisation, Mzough U Tiv MUT, Nasarawa state chapter, Philip Nongu, said his people were making efforts to relocate to safer places, and called on Governor Sule, not to allow his people perish in the wilderness.
Several attemts to get reaction from the Nasarawa State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the state Spokesman could not be reached on phone.
