Imo International Cargo Airport performs First Airlift of Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

Vice President, Kashim Shettima and the Sultan of Sokoto, on Friday arrived at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Air Port Owerri to inaugurate the first flight of Nigerian pilgrims to the

2025 hajj operation to Saudi Arabia.

Thousands of Muslim worshippers led by the Governor Hope Uzodimma welcomed the Vice President and the Sultan of Sokoto amongst others to the inauguration ceremony.

This inauguration witnessed unprecedented influx of Muslim faithful, who besieged the state in their numbers.

Furthermore Hausa cyclists, demonstrating their riding skills, formed a convoy with more than one thousand motorcycles stretching from Nekede, Obinze and Hospital junction at Port Harcourt road.

Speaking during the inauguration, Vice President Kashim Shettima commended Imo State Governor for making the airlift of Moslem faithfuls to Saudi Arabia possible.

On his part, Governor Hope Uzodimma described the occasion as a good development that will benefit Imolites in due course.

In the same development a public opinion analyst Chief Jude Osuala said that Imolites expected harvest of cargos landing at the Imo International cargo airport not religious Pilgrims.
