The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa Command, has announced the promotion of its personnel, Abubakar Mayos, for his outstanding display of honesty and integrity.

The state commandant of the corps, Idris Bande, announced this during a press conference yesterday, in Yola.

Bande explained that Mayos, a Corps Assistant II, was promoted for returning a missing bag belonging to one Maimuna Salihu, an intending pilgrim from Taraba, who was scheduled for the 2025 Hajj.

He said that the bag found at the Yola International Airport, contained U.S. 500 dollars, and 300 Saudi Riyals, estimated at N850, 000.

According to him, in recognition of his exemplary conduct, the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, approved the immediate promotion of Mayos’ from Corps Assistant II (CAII) to Corps Assistant I (CAI).

The commandant noted that Mayos’ action had earned him the admiration of colleagues and members of the public, while promoting the image of the corps.

“Today, we recognise Abubakar Mayos not only for his achievements but how he earned trust and respect of everyone and projected a good image of the corps.

“In a world where shortcuts are tempting and appearances can be deceptive, Mayos demonstrated principle, steadfastness, transparency, and sincerity.

“Honesty is not just about telling the truth, it is also about living it and making the right choices even when no one is watching.

“It is also about having the courage to speak up, the integrity to act fairly, and the humility to admit mistakes as well,” Bande said.

The commandant further acknowledged the role of the commandant general or the corps, whom he said had consistently encouraged integrity and ethical conduct from the corps personnel.

“By recognising and rewarding honesty, the commandant general has reaffirmed that doing the right thing pays.

“His leadership continues to inspire a sense of duty and responsibility within our ranks,” he added.
