According to reports, a Federal High Court in Lagos has granted Nollywood actress Doris Ogala bail in the sum of N30 million over charges of cyberstalking involving Pastor Chris Okafor.

Justice Akintayo Aluko, in his ruling, ordered her release on two sureties, each required to provide a bond of N30 million. The judge, however, imposed strict conditions to protect the ongoing trial.

Ogala and her sureties were warned against attacking, harassing, intimidating or interfering with prosecution witnesses. They were also directed to maintain good behaviour and avoid any action capable of disrupting the court proceedings.

The court further directed that the sureties must own properly registered landed property in Lagos State and provide supporting documents, including letters from their employers to establish their credibility.

Justice Aluko explained that the decision was based on Section 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, noting that the court had to balance Ogala’s constitutional right to freedom with the need to protect the administration of justice.

The actress had earlier applied for bail, arguing that her release would allow her to prepare her defence and continue her political campaign in another state ahead of the forthcoming elections.

She also attributed her previous absence from court to health challenges, including a gynaecological surgery.

Ogala is facing a four-count charge under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.

The prosecution alleged that between September 2024 and March 2026, she shared intimate photographs of Pastor Okafor without his consent and circulated damaging allegations against him.

She was also accused of using electronic communications to bully and threaten the cleric, as well as attempting to obtain property from him by threatening to release more intimate materials.

The court adjourned the case until March 25, 2027, for trial.
