Nigerian singer, filmmaker and entrepreneur Banky W has revealed that he is now a pastor and a professor, describing the development as part of a new chapter in his life following his unsuccessful political bid in 2023.
The entertainer shared the news while reflecting on how losing the election affected him emotionally and eventually prompted him to seek God’s direction for his future.
Banky W disclosed that although the experience inspired him, it also left him heartbroken, forcing him to reconsider his plans and priorities.
“In 2023 I lost an election. And while the experience inspired me, it also broke my heart into a million little pieces,” he said.
According to him, he turned to God for direction, questioning whether his future lay in politics, ministry, entertainment or business.
He said he eventually realised that he had been treating these different pursuits as though he had to choose only one, when they could coexist as part of a broader purpose.
“It wasn’t either/or. It was all of the above. Turns out, God wasn’t trying to put me in a box. He was expanding my assignment,” he wrote.
Banky W also disclosed that he now serves as an associate pastor, describing the development as a reminder that disappointing experiences can lead to unexpected opportunities.
“The election didn’t go the way I hoped. But God’s plans for my life are bigger than the plans I had for myself,” he added.
The singer maintained that he remains active as a filmmaker, musician and entrepreneur while embracing his responsibilities in ministry and academia.
He concluded his reflection with a message about faith, purpose and new beginnings, saying that what may appear to be the end of one chapter could simply be the beginning of another.
“And the beautiful thing is, He’s still writing,” he said.
