“Just Look at Grown Men Making a Mess of Themselves” — Sabinus Reacts as Agberos Allegedly Block Cybertruck Owner in Lagos

Popular Nigerian comedian Sabinus has reacted to a viral video showing the moment street touts, locally known as agberos, allegedly blocked a Cybertruck owner from leaving the Onikan Stadium in Lagos after a football match.

The footage, shared by social media user Femi Pereira, showed a crowd gathered around the electric vehicle as its owner appeared to struggle to leave the stadium.

Reacting to the video, Sabinus criticised the behaviour and referenced the long standing complaints about harassment by street touts in Lagos.

“Just look at grown men and people’s bread winners making a mess of themselves. If I dey talk about these agbero pandemic in Lagos, una go begin attack person. I don wash my hand for this matter,” he wrote.

According to Pereira’s post, the men allegedly refused to allow the Cybertruck to leave until its owner agreed to pay what was described as a $4 million “settlement”.

The claim has not been independently verified, and the circumstances surrounding the alleged demand remain unclear.

The incident has renewed conversations about motorists’ and members of the public’s experiences of harassment, intimidation, and unofficial charges by street touts in parts of Lagos.

Sabinus’ reaction also highlights growing frustration among Nigerians over street touts’ activities and the challenges motorists face in public spaces.
