An unemployed woman, Queen Doris, was on Wednesday docked in a Dutse Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for alleged fake 100 dollar exchange.
The police charged Doris, who resides in Kubwa, Abuja with cheating.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Julianna Atinko, told the court that Jamilu Ibrahim, the complainant, reported the matter at the Kubwa Police Station on Aug. 30, 2025.
Atinko alleged that the defendant tricked Ibrahim into giving her N135,000, for her 100-dollar note.
She said the complainant later discovered that the currency the defendant gave him was fake.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation and interrogation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of her actions.
Atinko said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 312 of the Penal Code Law.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Alkali, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that the sureties must have reliable means of identification and reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
The court adjourned the matter until Oct. 26 for hearing.
