Country music icon Dolly Parton, one of the most celebrated singers, songwriters and entertainers in the world, has died at the age of 80.

Parton reportedly died on Tuesday after being hospitalised in Nashville while dealing with health complications. The exact cause of her death has not been officially disclosed.

Her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes for the legendary entertainer, whose career spanned more than six decades and produced some of country music’s most enduring songs.

Parton had acknowledged experiencing health challenges in recent months. In a recent interview, she revealed that she had been dealing with some health issues, which she said she had neglected while caring for her late husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025.

The singer also disclosed that she had experienced difficult periods with her health in the past but continued working while recovering.

In recent months, Parton had scaled back some of her public commitments, including cancelling planned appearances after reportedly being advised by her doctor to limit travel due to dehydration and occasional dizziness.

The music legend leaves behind a career spanning generations, with hit songs including *Jolene*, *9 to 5*, *Coat of Many Colors* and *I Will Always Love You*, alongside a legacy in film, philanthropy and entertainment.
