“I Spent 6 to 7 Years Battling Illness” — Ogogo’s Emotional Throwback Interview Resurfaces After His Death

A throwback interview of late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has resurfaced online hours after news of his death.

In the interview with Oyinmomo TV, recorded about a year ago, the actor reflected on a severe health battle that kept him away from acting for several years and left him struggling to eat and carry out his daily activities.

Ogogo revealed that he had battled the illness for six to seven years, despite not smoking or drinking.

“I spent 6 to 7 years battling illness. May we not experience hardship in our old age. I don’t smoke. I am not a drinker,” he said.

Recounting how the health crisis began, the actor said he experienced a sudden and severe chest pain while travelling to a film location during Ramadan.

“I suddenly felt a sharp chest pain down to my back. Within 10 mins I wasn’t feeling comfortable,” he recalled.

He said actress Remi Surutu initially suggested that the pain could be caused by an ulcer. Ogogo was fasting at the time and initially resisted breaking his fast, but eventually ate when the pain became unbearable.
