Social media critic and activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been honoured with a traditional title by the Oluwo of Iwo and Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi.
The honour was conferred during a colourful palace ceremony held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Iwo, Osun State.
At the event, the monarch bestowed on VeryDarkMan the title, “Atayese One of Nigeria, Orisha Nla,” in the presence of palace chiefs, dignitaries and supporters.
Photos and videos from the ceremony showed the activist dressed in a colourful Aso Oke outfit as he received the honour from the traditional ruler.
The recognition adds to the growing public profile of VeryDarkMan, whose social commentary and activism have continued to generate widespread attention and debate across Nigeria.
