Family members and former aides of former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, have dismissed as false and malicious reports circulating on social media claiming that the former governor had died.

The rumour, which spread across several online platforms on Wednesday night, sparked concern among supporters, political associates, and residents of Delta State, prompting swift reactions from those closest to the former governor.

Leading the response, Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan, described the report as baseless, insisting that her father remains alive and well.

In a brief reaction posted online, she wrote: “A rumour! He is fine.”

Also debunking the claim, Uduaghan’s former Special Assistant, Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, said the former governor was alive, resting and recuperating.

According to him, “He is alive, resting and recuperating. For those whose concerns were genuine, we say thank you for your concern.”

He condemned those behind the false report, stressing that Uduaghan remained in good health and had many more years ahead of him by God’s grace.

Adding his voice, the former governor’s ex-Director of Protocol, Chris Oghenechowen, dismissed the claim outright, describing it as fake news and urging the public to disregard it.

The coordinated responses from family members and longtime associates quickly calmed growing anxiety generated by the viral report, with many supporters expressing relief after receiving confirmation that the former governor was alive.

Uduaghan, who served as governor of Delta State between 2007 and 2015, remains an influential political figure in the state and continues to play advisory roles in public affairs. The false death report triggered widespread reactions online before being firmly debunked by his family and former aides.
