The Ogun State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the mysterious deaths of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, whose bodies were discovered at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village under circumstances that have raised serious concerns.
The grim discovery was made after a resident alerted police to suspicious activities around the property, prompting officers from the Owode Egba Divisional Headquarters to visit the scene.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, detectives who arrived at the residence observed signs of forced entry and evidence that the compound had been ransacked.
During a search of the premises, the body of the security guard was found inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s corpse was later discovered in her apartment.
Adding another twist to the tragedy, police revealed that the deceased broadcaster’s vehicle was missing from the residence, fuelling suspicions that the incident may have involved robbery and murder.
Babaseyi disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered an intensive investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the deaths and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Security operatives have since widened surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations in a bid to track down the perpetrators and recover the missing vehicle.
“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Babaseyi said.
“An intensive investigation is ongoing to unravel the facts, track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous act, while ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice.”
The police command expressed condolences to the family of the late broadcaster, the OGTV community, media practitioners and others affected by the tragedy.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant, while anyone with useful information that could aid the investigation has been encouraged to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities.
