Nollywood actor Stan Nze has expressed disappointment after several phones reportedly went missing during the Service of Songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo in Lagos.
The solemn event, which drew numerous Nollywood stars, clerics, family members, and well-wishers, had already generated conversations online over the fashion choices of some attendees and the conduct of content creators covering the occasion.
However, Stan Nze, who served as host of the event, shifted attention to what he described as a deeper societal problem after revealing that more than five phones were allegedly stolen during the gathering, including those of Nollywood actresses: BamBam and Susan Peters.
Speaking in a video after the event, the actor questioned the mindset of individuals who would choose to steal at a ceremony dedicated to mourning and celebrating the life of a deceased colleague.
“Who goes to an event where people are mourning, to steal?” he asked.
Clearly disturbed by the development, Stan argued that the incident reflected a broader crisis of values and personal responsibility among Nigerians.
According to him, the country’s challenges cannot always be blamed on leadership alone if citizens continue to engage in unethical behaviour.
“This confirms that the government is not the issue, we are,” he stated.
The actor concluded his remarks with a prayer for national transformation, asking God to have mercy on Nigerians and help the country embrace better values and a stronger sense of humanity.
