The Oyo State Government has demolished an apartment in Lakoun along Ayegun-Olojuoro Road, Ibadan, which was allegedly used by kidnappers to hold the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her two children captive.

The demolition comes days after a coordinated security operation led to the successful rescue of the victims and the dismantling of the suspected hideout.

Recall that the Oyo State Commissioner of Police visited the area following the late-evening operation on June 6, 2026, which brought an end to the family’s days in captivity.

The victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were reportedly abducted in the early hours of June 3 while on their way to drop the children off at school.

The incident sparked widespread concern and renewed calls for stronger action against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.

Authorities say the demolition of the property forms part of ongoing efforts to send a strong message to criminal elements and prevent similar locations from being used for unlawful activities.

The rescue operation has been widely praised, with many Nigerians commending security agencies for securing the victims’ freedom and calling for continued efforts to tackle insecurity across the country.
