Flight FC of Gboko, a NationWide League One (NLO) side is among the eight football clubs that have booked their tickets to the quarter-final of the 2026 President Federation Cup.The Gboko side secured their spot after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bida Lions at the Bwari Township Stadium, from where they will lock horns with Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
Also, Nigeria Premier League side, Barau FC edged Sunshine Stars U19 2-1 in a closely contested encounter played at the same venue on Saturday.
The entertaining Round of 16 matches also saw Sokoto United secured their passage to the quarter-final with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Adamawa United to advance to the last eight, while Elkanemi Warriors emerged victorious in one of the most dramatic ties of the round. After playing out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Bendel Insurance, Elkanemi held their nerve to win 8-7 on penalties.
Wikki Tourists also progressed with a convincing 3-1 win over Kada Warriors.
Another penalty shootout was needed to separate Rivers United and Nasarawa United after both sides finished regulation time at 2-2. Nasarawa United converted their spot-kicks more effectively, claiming a 5-3 shootout victory.
Plateau United secured their place to the last eight with a 2-1 triumph over FC Basira, while Ikorodu City produced one of the biggest results of the round by eliminating Enyimba FC. Following a 1-1 draw, Ikorodu City advanced with a 5-4 penalty shootout win.
With the Round of 16 concluded, attention now shifts to the quarter-finals, where Sokoto United will face Elkanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists will take on Flight FC, Nasarawa United will battle Plateau United, and Ikorodu City will square off against Barau FC for a place in the semi-finals.
