Members of the Take-It-Back Movement on Monday took to the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, to protest the worsening security situation in the state and the continued captivity of pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.
The demonstrators gathered at Mokola Roundabout, one of the busiest intersections in the state capital, demanding urgent action from the government and security agencies to rescue the victims and tackle the growing wave of kidnappings across Oyo State.
Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the protesters expressed frustration over what they described as increasing fear and uncertainty among residents, particularly in rural communities where kidnapping attacks have become a recurring threat.
Several of the placards bore messages such as, “Security for all, not for a few,” “Government must end kidnapping in Oyo State,” “We demand safer roads and communities,” and “Protect farmers, traders and students.”
The protest comes amid growing public outrage over the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area, a tragedy that has left families in anguish and heightened concerns about the safety of schools and communities across the state.
Protesters insisted that beyond promises and assurances, citizens want to see concrete results, including the safe return of those still being held captive and stronger measures to prevent future attacks.
As insecurity continues to dominate public discourse, the demonstration reflects the increasing pressure on authorities to restore confidence, protect lives and ensure that residents can go about their daily activities without fear.
