Popular activist and online commentator VeryDarkMan is facing intense backlash after reality TV star Phyna accused him of abandoning her during her late sister’s tragedy because she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.
The controversy reignited painful memories surrounding the 2025 death of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor, who reportedly died after being hit by a Dangote truck. At the time, Phyna had sought VDM’s help to push for justice and public attention, but the activist later withdrew from the campaign, accusing her of being more interested in money than her sister’s welfare.
Phyna denied the allegation and has now escalated the feud with a bombshell claim that VDM allegedly became hostile after she refused to sleep with him.
The reality star recently shared alleged chat screenshots in which VDM reportedly admitted he was sexually attracted to her, while suggesting that “if anything happens, fine.” Phyna claimed many of their more sensitive conversations happened over phone calls.
VDM has denied demanding sex from her, insisting he never asked to sleep with Phyna. However, his response sparked more debate after he reportedly argued that even if such a conversation occurred, both were consenting adults.
Social media has since exploded into camps, with some accusing VDM of hypocrisy and others insisting attraction alone is not misconduct.
For many observers, the scandal now threatens the moral image of a man long celebrated as Nigeria’s fearless online “people’s policeman.”
