“I am not equal to Bishop Oyedepo. I know it, and I carry myself as one who knows it.” That was the striking statement from David Abioye, as he spoke candidly during a recent panel on leadership and service.
Referencing his long-standing relationship with David Oyedepo, Bishop Abioye emphasised humility and loyalty as core values in ministry.
According to him, serving under a leader should not come with hidden ambition or a desire to replace them.
“I serve with joy,” he implied, making it clear that his posture has never been about succession politics, but about purpose.
He also addressed assistant pastors directly, warning against external voices that encourage dissatisfaction or push them to abandon their place of service.
In his view, those voices are often temporary, but the consequences of leaving prematurely can be lasting.
