The Delta Commissioner of Police (CP), Yemi Oyeniyi, has paid courtesy visits to key security and law enforcement agencies in the state, reaffirming the need for inter-agency collaboration in fighting crimes/criminality.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement in Asaba on Thursday.
Edafe said that the commissioner accompanied by the management team visited the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) on Wednesday.
He said that the commissioner identified critical security concerns including kidnapping, communal clashes, human trafficking and drug trafficking, and called for support from sister security agencies in tackling them.
He said that at the DSS, the CP stressed the need for sustained collaboration among security agencies, especially in the build up to the 2027 general elections.
He quoted Oyeniyi as saying that he would continue to rely on the experience and institutional knowledge of sister agencies who have served in the state to address emerging security threats.
According to Edafe, the DSS responded by reaffirming that collaboration remains sacrosanct to effective security management and assured of their consistent support to tackle all forms of criminality in the state.
He also that at the NIS, the commissioner discussed strategies to improve collaboration, noting that intelligence gathering was a collective responsibility that could not be done in isolation.
He said that the state NIS Comptroller, Mrs Grace Ozodinobi, lauded the commissioner for the visit and pledged the service commitment to deepening collaboration and intelligence gathering.
”At the visit to the NCoS, the Controller, Chuke Idoko assured of consistent support to tackle all forms of criminality in the state.
”According to him, collective efforts remain the most effective way to ensure public safety, as no single agency can independently address contemporary security challenges,’’ Edafe said.
The visits reinforced the shared resolve of security agencies to deepen cooperation, strengthen intelligence sharing and work collaboratively towards maintaining peace, law and order, and the overall security of residents.
