Ferencváros winger, Bamidele Yusuf, has revealed his target to play for Nigeria’s senior national football team, the Super Eagles, and end its wing crisis.
He said it has been a lifelong aspiration he has nurtured since his early football days to don the country’s colours.
Yusuf has made a notable impact this season, showcasing his talents in the Europa League, where he contributed to six goals over eleven matches, attracting considerable attention.
In total, he has been directly involved in twenty-four goals this season, netting 14 and providing 10 assists, highlighting both his scoring ability and creative talent.
Yusuf is confident that his remarkable performances for Ferencváros have brought him closer to a first Super Eagles call-up.
“Every player aspires to compete on the grandest stage for their country; it is a dream realized. If I receive a call-up to the national team, I would be the happiest person alive. Representing my country is one of my dreams,” Yusuf shared with OmaSportsTV.
“I believe my opportunity is imminent, and I am committed to continuing my hard work. I trust that my moment will arrive, and I will be overjoyed to represent my nation.”
When discussing the players who motivate him, Yusuf mentioned the influence of Super Eagles stars Victor Boniface, Paul Onuachu, and Victor Osimhen, whom he referred to as ‘the biggest player in Africa’.
During his childhood, Bamidele Yusuf was a Chelsea fan and idolized the Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba.
