Just when it seemed the drama around Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan had begun to settle, another chapter quietly unfolded.

Following his public withdrawal from political support and his now-famous apology to Nigerians, a response came from within the camp he had just stepped away from. Social media personality and APC loyalist Adams Kehinde, alongside members of his team, released a video on 21 March 2026 with a rather firm message. Aremu Afolayan, they declared, is no longer a member of EKO 57.

For context, EKO 57 is a political support group launched in Lagos in March 2026 to rally backing for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. The group, coordinated by Lege Miami, is made up of Nollywood actors and loyal supporters committed to promoting the President’s second-term ambition.

In what felt like a mix of dismissal and damage control, Lege Miami also urged Nigerians to stop bullying Aremu. A curious request, considering the same public space has been the stage for both endorsement and backlash.

Politics, it seems, comes with membership terms that are not always written down but are very quickly enforced.
