The Police Command in Anambra has urged indigenes to consider a career in the force to contribute actively to the improvement of security services in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, made the call in a statement yesterday in Awka.
“Policing is a noble profession anchored on service, discipline, and patriotism, providing structured career growth, professional training, and the chance to make a positive impact on society by safeguarding lives and property.
“To this end, the command encourages indigenes to further see enlistment into the police force as a constructive way to be part of national discussions on security and governance,” he stated.
He noted that active involvement in national institutions such as the police remained essential for inclusive development and lasting peace.
According to him, indigenes of Anambra should consider a career in the NPF, as it is a vital platform for meaningful participation in national development.
He stated that joining the force offered people of the state an opportunity to actively contribute to improved policing services, promote unity, and support nation-building efforts.
The command’s spokesman said that increased participation of indigenes in the force would strengthen community-oriented policing, enhance public trust, and improve security outcomes by fostering a better understanding of the local environment, culture, and people.
Recall that the Police Service Commission received 400,000 applications in the ongoing recruitment, against 50,000 vacancies reserved for the constable cadre in the NPF.
