The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has announced that Governor Agbu Kefas will formally join the party in January 2026.
State Chairman of the party, Ibrahim Tukur revealed the new date in Jalingo yesterday.
The governor’s earlier defection date of November 19 was delayed following the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State.
Speaking to newsmen in Jalingo, Tukur explained that the party has sanctioned several ward executives for breaching its constitution and urged dissatisfied members to follow the APC’s internal conflict-resolution channels before resorting to litigation.
He added that the State Working Committee, he also nullified the suspension of Abel Peter, the lawmaker representing Mbamga Constituency, whose ward executives had earlier penalised him for alleged anti-party activities.
Tukur dismissed recent remarks by Atiku Abubakar, who claimed he would reclaim Taraba for his party, describing the assertion as unrealistic.
He insisted that the APC has already secured control of the Taraba Government House and has no intention of relinquishing it.
