Chalmers Joy at 2030 Commonwealth Games Hosts

Guernsey athlete Alastair Chalmers says he is pleased that the Commonwealth Games has a confirmed host venue for 2030.
The Indian city of Amdavad will stage the centenary games with 15-17 sports on the programme.
Chalmers, 25, won Guernsey’s first ever athletics medal at Birmingham 2022 when he took bronze in the 400m hurdles.
Glasgow is hosting a stripped-back version of the event next summer after it stepped in at short notice following the Australian state of Victoria’s decision to pull out of hosting the 2026 Games for financial reasons.
“It’s really nice that the Commonwealth Games are going to be going ahead as planned,” Chalmers told BBC Radio Guernsey.
“After Australia closing it down, it was uncertain, so it’s lovely that we’ve got the great Games up in Glasgow next year and then, of course, we can look forward to 2030.”
