The Director-General, National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olapade, said the commission’s targets are fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s sports development agenda.
Olapade made the statement at the opening of the technical session of the 2nd National Council on Sports in Calabar on Wednesday.
He said that Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda placed significant emphasis on youth development, job creation, social cohesion, and national pride.
“These targets can all find strong expression through sports. That is what we seek to achieve at the national sports commission.
“We have continued to implement the renewed hope agenda to develop Nigeria’s sports economy through frameworks, reforms, athlete welfare, infrastructure upgrade, and sports commercialisation,”” he said.
The D-G said that the technical session established the foundation for decisions and recommendations that would shape the future of Nigeria’s sports development.
Olapade urged the participants to show commitment towards the goals of the commission as expressed in president’s agenda for sports development.
Agnes Atsu, the Commissioner for Sports in Cross River, described the session as a fertile ground for creation of sports development ideas.
Atsu said that the state fully was committed to contributing meaningfully to sports development in the country.
