A senior source in the Office of the National Security Adviser has just confirmed to KTH Daily that the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, have been released.

According to the source, the girls regained their freedom following a carefully coordinated non-kinetic operation involving security and intelligence agencies. The approach relied on negotiation and other peaceful measures rather than direct military confrontation.

The students’ abduction had sparked nationwide outrage and prompted a major search-and-rescue push across federal security formations. Their release brings significant relief to families and the wider Kebbi community, who have waited anxiously since the incident occurred.
