APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu To Launch Serious Campaign Against Insecurity

Immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, Valentine Ozigbo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to launch a decisive national campaign against insecurity.
Ozigbo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the call in a letter to the President, saying he was pained on the cycles of violence, fear and preventable tragedy Nigeria is going through.
He said that the abduction of students in Kebbi State, murder and kidnap of worshippers in Kwara, kidnap of travellers and killing of a senior military officer by bandits were open wounds on the conscience of the nation.
He said though it was not an easy task, the president should rise., and embrace the quiet courage of leadership as the buck stopped on his table.
“I, therefore, call for a decisive national campaign against insecurity; Nigeria does not lack brave men and women in uniform. We do not lack intelligence or lack equipment.
“A nation cannot negotiate with those who have chosen war against civilisation, so draw the red line and make it clear that nothing would shield anyone who sponsors or protects terrorists.
“I call for a structural solution, `the Orange Union Model’ which recognises Nigeria as a union of nations, one defence, one foreign policy, one currency, but with regional autonomy that unleashes innovation, competition, and justice.
“We must also confront a harder truth, a compromised judiciary does not emerge in a vacuum, it emerges when political actors normalise impunity, no nation governed by transactional justice can ever know peace,” he said.
Ozigbo advocated for democracy with a strong opposition, noting that Nigeria’s democracy faced a danger of the ruling party going unchecked.
He called for a political solution in the matter of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and expressed confidence that his release would calm the South-East geo-political zone and open doors for national healing.
“Even if he erred, nations are healed through mercy, not martyrdom.
“Mr President, Nigeria has reached an inflection point, crisis can either consume a nation or awaken it, the choice, ultimately, is leadership.
“I believe, deeply, that Nigeria can still rise. And I believe that if you choose courage over caution, history will look kindly on your tenure,” he said.
