Group Urges Acting PDP Factional Chairman To Restore Party’s Glory

A Coalition of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Support Groups on Thursday appealed to the factional acting National Chairman, Mr Muhammad Abdulkadir to restore the party’s lost glory at all levels.
The coalition Chairman, Northwest, Dr Haruna Gumel, made the call while addressing a press conference in Sokoto.
Gumel pledged loyalty to the acting chairman, who hitherto, was the party Vice Chairman, North-Central, assuring that the party loyalists would give him all the necessary support to succeed.
He enjoined the new acting chairman to use his vast experience to ensure that justice “is done to everyone towards restoring the party’s lost glory.
”The coalition in strong voice, pledged its loyalty to the acting national chairman and identified with the decision of some members of the National Working Committee.
“It also aligned with the bold step taken to suspend the national chairman alongside five others for not doing what is expected of them.
”It’s on record that PDP has been thrown into leadership crisis for the past few weeks, which resulted in suspension of our scheduled national convention.
”The coalition of PDP support groups in Northwestern States has unanimously welcome the judgement of the Federal
High Court which halts the national convention of our great party.”
Gumel added that the judgement had again confirmed that things were wrong and needed to be addressed for the political party to succeed.
He alleged that the court cases were intentionally created for reason best known to a bigwig and his bootlickers.
”To this end, the coalition commended the National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and the National Organising Secretary, Mr Umar Bature for saving our party from public disgrace.
”We urge them not to listen to enemies of progress working to bring down the party to its kneels.
”The coalition of PDP support groups also support the resolution reached at the end of the NWC meeting held on Nov. 1, where Amb. Damagun, PDP spokesperson and three others were suspended,” he added.
Gumel urged the acting national chairman to work towards settling all disagreements to avoid throwing the party into litigations.
He advised him to summon a NEC meeting to address issues arising from the recent court judgement that halted the national convention.
