Delta Govt. Targets N1.5trn Appropriation For 2026, Woos German Investors

The Delta State Government said it is targeting about N1.5 trillion for 2026 appropriation to enable it meet its projects and programmes for the fiscal year.
The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu disclosed this at a press conference in Asaba yesterday.
He also disclosed that Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori and his economic team left for Germany yesterday on a duty tour to understudy the country’s investment environment for replication in Delta.
He said that the government has remained transparent and would always inform her citizens about the duty tours which has always been for the benefit of the entire state and her people.
According to Aniagwu, the state government trip to Brazil has been the reason behind the N59 billion and N39 billion Uromi Junction flyover and Otowhodo in Ughelli flyover respectively.
“This groundbreaking will enable the governor interface with the people at the rural areas and not to wait to meet the people during elections,” he said.
He said that the projects execution time had been reviewed and to be completed earlier than scheduled.
Aniagwu said that the State Committee on Agriculture were working assiduously to articulate the gains from the Brazil trip into fruition.
The commissioner said that on arrival from Germany, the state government would perform the groundbreaking ceremony on the Uromi and Otowhodo flyovers respectively.
On the state government and all stakeholders movement to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on April 28, Aniagwu said it was a worthwhile adventure, adding that government at the local and ward levels were already smoothing that relationship.
He lauded the chairman of APC in the state, Elder Omeni Sobotie for ensuring the need for further consultations that had informed the recent State Stakeholders meeting at Government House.
According to the commissioner, the meeting saw the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Oborevwori for a seamless second tenure come 2027 general elections which was consequent to the motion moved by the Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo.
He also said that the state government would be rolling out empowerment programmes to impact greater number of citizens across the state to grow their businesses.
According to him, the state government has lined up empowerment programmes for a much larger number of the people of Delta to boost their businesses.
“The agencies involved are the Ministries of Women Affairs, Youths, the Jobs Creation Office and the Girl Child and Humanitarian ministry.”
On the recently launched State Security Trust Fund, the commissioner said the whole idea was to raise funds and to get the stakeholders invest in the security architecture of the state in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of the governor which bothered on peace and security.
He said the state government interface with the Federal Government was yielding results.
Aniagwu said that the recent N35 billion Sapele/Benin Road groundbreaking and the State intervention on the Second Niger Bridge bypass access road running from Asagba- Ogwashi to the Niger Bridge, were some of the gains of the state-federal government interface.
