2027: Coalition Pledges To Mobilise 80 Per Cent Registered Voters From North Central For Tinubu

An interest group, North Central Youth Coalition for Asiwaju (NCYCA), has pledged to mobilise more than 80 per cent of the 16 million registered voters in the geo-political zone in support of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a news conference in Abuja yesterday, National Coordinator of the group, Mr James Iyorkusha, described the north-central zone as a political force that cannot be overlooked.
According to him, the zone has an updated total of nearly 16 million registered voters, translating into 16.25 per cent of the total registered voters in Nigeria.
Iyorkusha said that zone ranked only behind the North-West and the South-West with 23.9 per cent and 19.31 per cent respectively.
“Our voter population has made us a vital political bloc. And it is therefore safe to say that no presidential election can be won in Nigeria without the majority of votes from the north-central region,” he said.
While pledging the coalition’s ‘unalloyed support’ to Tinubu, the national coordinator recalled the several achievements of his administration in the last two years.
“In just over two years, and for the first time, the federal, state and local governments shared trillions in federal allocations to help fast track development at all levels.
“This is made possible by the brave decision of the president to end the corrupt oil subsidy regime and channel funds into improving our national security, education, agriculture, healthcare, and build critical economic infrastructure.
“Our president has gradually turned this country into a construction site, awarding several road contracts and building bridges, flyovers and housing schemes across states in the north-central geo-political zone and beyond.
“We shall strive to build a vast support base amongst youths of the north-central region and expand that base with a handshake to youths in the South-South region,” he said.
Iyorkusha expressed the coalition’s determination to see its mission to its logical end, adding: “We shall not retreat, nor surrender until our president, Bola Tinubu, is re-elected in 2027.
“President Tinubu deserves our full support to continue with the good work he has done and still doing, beyond 2027,” he said.
The national coordinator said that the NCYCA would partner with youth groups in the south-south geo-political zone to deliver both zones for Tinubu.
In his remarks, the Majority Leader of Kogi House of Assembly, Mr Suleiman Abdulrazak, said that the initiative was not in exchange for political appointments for indigenous people of the zone.
Abdulrazak stated that the over 80 per cent target set by the group was in appreciation of the good work the president had done in two years.
