Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as a decisive and timely intervention that averted a looming disruption to Nigeria’s energy sector.

In a statement issued yesterday, the company said the President’s leadership, exercised through key ministers and senior security officials, helped restore calm and stability during what it called a “critical moment for the nation’s energy supply.”

“Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, HE Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his intervention, through his ministers and senior officials, which resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the refinery,” the statement read in part.

According to the company, among the top officials who played key roles in restoring normalcy were the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Mohammed Mohammed.

It also commended the efforts of the Ministers of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

The company said these officials “worked untiringly into the wee hours of several nights” to forestall what it described as “the declared disruption of Nigeria’s energy sector by anarchists and agents of darkness.”

Dangote Refinery extended “heartfelt gratitude” to Nigerians for their support during the tension, saying the solidarity of ordinary citizens strengthened the company’s resolve.

“To Nigerians of all walks of life, we owe you more than a debt of gratitude. Your support for our righteous cause was humbling and overwhelming,” it stated.
“You gave us hope and reinforced our belief in the Nigerian nation and people as the backbone of our enterprise. Be assured that we will continue to work for and in your interest and protect that interest against rent seekers and economic saboteurs.”

The company also praised its workforce for demonstrating loyalty and professionalism throughout the industrial standoff, saying their commitment ensured uninterrupted operations despite “provocative directives from detractors.”

“The strength of Dangote Group lies in our people and their unalloyed dedication to our mission. You proved your allegiance in the face of incitement from those who do not wish Nigeria well,” the statement noted.

Reaffirming its position as one of Nigeria’s foremost employers, Dangote Refinery described the Dangote Group as “a model private sector player” committed to fair employment practices and the nation’s economic development.

“The Dangote Group is recognized as one of Nigeria’s model employers of labour, the largest private-sector employer in the country, and a major contributor to tax revenues. Our compensation framework is benchmarked against international standards, designed to reward performance, protect employee welfare, and uphold dignity in labour,” it said.

The company also acknowledged the Nigerian judiciary for its role in upholding justice and protecting the rule of law throughout the crisis.

“One institution that we revere and must loudly acknowledge is the Nigerian judiciary. They stood up for the truth and proved themselves the bastion of hope for all. The fact that the judiciary came to society’s rescue, notwithstanding intimidation by vested interests, stands the institution out as a just arbiter,” the refinery declared.

Reiterating its dedication to national service, Dangote Refinery pledged to sustain uninterrupted production of petroleum products and contribute to Nigeria’s industrial growth.

“We will not relent in serving the Nigerian nation faithfully and diligently. Our commitment to the Nigerian people remains undiluted, undiminished, and unalterable, notwithstanding distractions from detractors,” it concluded.
