The troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA), on Saturday invaded a bandit camp in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State and recovered arms cache.
Lt. Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations of the Brigade, disclosed the development in a press statement that the effort followed a cordon and search operation at Ikyaior village of the local government, through credible intelligence.
According to Let. Muhammad, troops got credible intelligence that a notorious criminal, Mr. Terhemen Nzagha, also known as “Full Fire,” was allegedly harbouring suspected armed criminals at Sabon-Gida Leke and Ikyaior village, along the Benue–Taraba border, and moved in for action.
“Upon arrival, the troops conducted a thorough search of the area. Although no suspects was found at the location.
“Troops recovered, 5 Special Forces face caps, 3 AK-47 magazines, 3 FN rifle magazines, 3 rifle slings, 2 FN rifle breech blocks and slides, 1 AK-47 firing mechanism 2 FN rifle stocks, 2 FN rifle springs, 1 mini-telescopic sight, 1 AK-47 rifle butt, 1 FN rifle bag, 1 badminton bag, 2 charms and 1 flashlight”. The statement disclosed.
The statement also informed that the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, high sense of professionalism, and commitment to duty.
He further reassured that the Brigade will remain vigilant, proactive, and resolute in sustaining ongoing operations, aimed at ridding the State of criminal elements.
The Brigade commander also called on members of the public to continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information, aa such collaboration remain vital in consolidating peace and security across Taraba State and it’s environs.
