The Lagos State House of Assembly has adopted recommendations on a petition concerning alleged unlawful trespass on the Prince Yussuf Obateru Family Land.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa disclosed this during Tuesday’s plenary held at the Assembly Complex in Alausa, Ikeja.
Obasa said the petition, titled ‘Petition against His Royal Majesty Oba Aderiyomi Akeem Oyebo,’ aimed to resolve a long-standing land dispute in Egbin, Ikorodu.
Presenting the report, Committee Chairman, Mr Oladipo Ajomale, stressed the need for peace and respect for the existing traditional authority in the affected community.
Ajomale revealed the committee urged Prince Obateru to stop making baseless allegations and filing frivolous petitions against the traditional ruler.
He added that Obateru should avoid any conduct that could lead to unrest or disturb the peace of the community.
Mr Stephen Ogundipe (Oshodi-Isolo I) also called on Obateru to recognise and submit to the authority of the traditional ruler.
Ogundipe encouraged the traditional ruler to engage aggrieved individuals in meaningful dialogue to promote peace and reconciliation in the area.
Following the report’s presentation, the House unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations as its official resolution on the matter.
