No fewer than 17,000 applicants registered on the first day after opening of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) online registration portal of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI) of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Director General of NDE, Silas Ali Agara, disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja yesterday.
The federal government of Nigeria through the NDE urged youths from 18 to 45 years to apply online through: www.nderegistrationportal.ng to be able to benefit from the second phase of the programme for 27,000 beneficiaries.
“As you witness the opening ceremony with a demonstration of how to fill the form, the headquarters will monitor the process by the state and zonal offices”.
“We are happy that from the opening of the portal, within an hour, about 16,470 Nigerians have applied,” Agara said.
The former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State explained that, only Nigerians that have National Identity Number (NIN) can apply for the employment exercise, which opens for two weeks from July, 28th to August 11, 2025.
NDE DG said that the only change from the first phase, is that this second phase wants applicants to register in their state of residence they want to train and not their state of origin.
Agara said his office has liaised with Nigerian Data Protection Council, (NDPC) for the protection of the data of applicants.
In his response, Mr. Edmund Chukwuma Onwuliri, Director planning, research and statistics emphasized that only 27,000 would be trained in this second phase and subsequent phases would be held for youth to acquire skills.
In her remarks, Mrs Steve Ogundayo Olayinka, Director of Inspectorate said 800 centers have been accredited to train the beneficiaries.
However, ICT consultant, Mr. Silas Dudu Nuhu said the portal would not register those that have benefited from the first phase.
