Former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and ex-Presidential Spokesman, Olorogun Ima Niboro, has lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as “truly executive” leadership that is visibly transforming the state and impacting the lives of Deltans.
Niboro, who spoke after a breakfast meeting with the governor on Sunday, commended Oborevwori’s focused approach to governance, highlighting his wit, warmth, and deep commitment to real development over political theatrics.
“I use the phrase ‘truly executive’ deliberately and intentionally because there were and still are ‘ceremonial governors’ in certain states across the nation,” Niboro said. “Sheriff, as we fondly call him, has shown a demonstrated capacity to effect change and make Delta a better place for us all.”
Drawing parallels with the transformational era of former Governor James Ibori, Niboro noted that Oborevwori’s aggressive push for infrastructural renewal evokes memories of a time when Deltans “fasted and prayed” for meaningful progress.
“Oborevwori has matched the state’s increased federal allocations with well-planned, well-funded projects that are already reshaping Delta’s landscape,” he stated. “He is not just spending; he is investing strategically for sustainable growth.”
Niboro disclosed that during their private conversation, Governor Oborevwori expressed optimism about even greater milestones for the state. “Delta hasn’t seen anything yet! Bigger, much bigger things are coming,” the governor was quoted as saying.
The former presidential spokesman also endorsed the governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda, particularly applauding its focus on sustainable infrastructure, responsive governance, and equitable development across all parts of the state.
“Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori has definitely earned his laurels and my respect. If he didn’t, you wouldn’t see me a hundred miles near him,” Niboro declared emphatically.
He praised Oborevwori’s ability to blend humility with executive decisiveness, a quality he said is rare in today’s political leadership. “Sheriff’s leadership is impactful, visible, and intentional. He’s setting a new standard for governance in Delta State.”
The M.O.R.E Agenda, which stands for Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, is the guiding policy framework of the Oborevwori administration.
