Katsina Police Neutralise One Bandit⁠, Rescue Three Victims

The Police Command in Katsina says it has killed a suspected bandit, and repelled separate attacks in Kankia and Musawa Local Government Areas of the state.
The police operatives also rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered 12 rustled cows.
This was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, on Thursday in Katsina.
Aliyu said that on Oct. 6, at about 9:30 p.m., suspected bandits stormed Fakuwa village in Kankia, kidnapped three persons and rustled 12 cows.
He said that police operatives in synergy with vigilantes intercepted and engaged the bandits in a prolonged gun duel forcing them to flee with gunshot wounds.
The spokesman said that the operatives rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered 12 rustled cows.
Aliyu identified the rescued victims as Jamila Alti, 50; Aisha Alti, 15; and Alhaji Dalladi, 60.
“The victims were rescued unharmed and subsequently reunited with their families,” he said.
Aliyu said that the police also received a distress call on Oct. 7, at about 1:30 a.m., that suspected bandits had barricaded the Kiryoyi – Dangani Road in Musawa LGA.
He said that the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) mobilised to the scene, and a gun duel ensued forcing the bandits to flee the area.
Aliyu said that a subsequent cordon and search operation led to the recovery of the body of one suspected bandit armed with a machete.
He said that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ali Fage, as commending the operatives for their gallantry and professionalism.
Fage urged residents of the state to support the police with credible information to assist in preventing and combating criminal activities.
